I am the Rota Chair for the Thermofluids Rota Group in Mechanical Engineering at UBC. As such, I'm in charge of arranging the 5/698 Seminar Schedule for Thermofluids.
I am also the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Section of the Combustion Insitute. Lesson learned: don't let people nominate you for things!


Research

I am the Project Leader of the Orca Project.

My main area of research is in the numerical simulation of turbulent combustion. We have been using several different approaches for this:

We have now published three papers with detailed chemical kinetic mechanisms to describe the autoignition of natural gas/air mixtures at engine-relevant conditions:
